We believe that every cup of coffee should do good—for those who drink it, for the communities who grow it, and for the planet. Our stewardship has evolved and improved as new products, services, and standards have been created, enabling us to achieve our ideals.

Sustainable Coffee: The Heart of Our Impact

At Good Earth Coffeehouse, sourcing sustainable coffee is the single most important way we’re making a difference for the planet. That commitment starts at the farm level, where we partner with growers who prioritize environmentally responsible practices — from reducing water usage to minimizing or eliminating the use of harmful chemicals.

Many of the coffees we serve are shade grown, which helps preserve forest habitats, protect biodiversity, and support healthier ecosystems. Unlike sun-grown plantations that often require deforestation, shade-grown coffee farms maintain tree cover, creating vital homes for birds and wildlife while naturally improving soil health and water retention.

We’re also proud that all our signature coffees— and most of our seasonal coffees — are Rainforest Alliance Certified. This certification ensures that the coffee is grown with care for both people and the planet, meeting rigorous standards around sustainability, fair treatment of workers, and conservation of natural resources.

Bring Your Own Mug Program

A small change can make a big impact! Our Bring Your Own Mug program encourages customers to bring reusable cups, helping to cut down on single-use waste. As a thank-you, we’ll fill your cup with your favourite drink for the price of a small! It’s our way of rewarding your commitment to sustainability.

Reduction, Composting, and Recycling Initiatives

We are committed to reducing single use items throughout our business. We strive to keep packaging to a minimum. When packaging is required, choices are made based on recycled content, compostability, and recyclability. Our compostable and recyclable packaging includes hot drink cups and lids, hot food containers and lids, paper napkins, salad bowls, cold cups and lids, wood fiber cutlery, and cup sleeves.

Where possible, our coffeehouses segregate organic waste—like coffee grounds and food scraps—diverting them from the landfill and giving them a second life as nutrient-rich soil.
